Healthy, Fun Snack Ideas
Parent, baby & toddler summers are usually busy, busy, busy! Between summer strolls, a big sibling’s soccer game, water fun and simply enjoying family time in bright & awesome weather. Preparing for those long days of summer means we have our work cut out for us. Make your life a little easier with these fun and healthy snack ideas. They are perfect for busy and sassy families on the go.
Sassy Happy Trails Mix:
Our Sassy Happy Trails Mix is the perfect snack for your toddler to nibble on. It’s not about nuts (which are NOT safe for this age range) and granola - it’s creating a filling, healthy and safe snack you can MAKE TOGETHER and take on the go. Try whole grain cereal, SOFT granola, fruit that’s soft but dry such as raisins, and throw in a little bit of color splash (like a tablespoon of some colorful cereal puffs. Think about toddler safe foods that won’t melt in the sun!
Frozen Banana Pops
One Sassy Doctor’s favorite treat! This is a refreshing and healthy snack for a hot summer day. Simply cut a banana in half widthwise. Push a popsicle stick into the banana. Then comes the fun part - melt a half cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave safe mug and add about a teaspoon of milk. DIP your banana (mom’s job!) into the mug and lay onto parchment paper. Let it cool a bit and then freeze! YUM!
Sassy Squeaky Mouse Pear
This may seem a little silly, but your kids will love it! First, cut a soft pear in half. Peel the skin. Place the flat side down. The small end will be the head of the mouse! Then, get creative! Push a small soft raisin in as the eyes, banana slices as ears- and a strawberry as the mouth. Have your little one do the arranging.

As always, follow our food safety tips and make sure to accommodate any allergies or special needs your child may have!
